A Director’s Perspective: Inside My First 30 Days at Ediphi

A Director’s Perspective: Inside My First 30 Days at Ediphi

Like much of corporate America, I’m used to long roadmaps.

In my last role at a large, process-heavy construction technology company, big committees and slow-moving progress for our estimating solutions was how work got done. It was the norm.

But then I joined Ediphi just over a month ago.

I knew I was stepping into a company doing something different in preconstruction, but I didn’t realize how quickly that difference would show up in practice.

At Ediphi, the pace is different. It’s fast, focused, and relentlessly iterative, just like our product.

Here’s what I’ve seen — and how it changes things for you.

Speed is a feature, not a byproduct

Preconstruction has never been known for speed.

Weeks long estimate cycles are still the standard, and half that time is commonly spent formatting data just to hand off to the client.

Ediphi not only helps you estimate programmatically, but lets you adjust how the data is presented to a client through the lens they prefer. Suddenly, the chunk of time you spend re-formatting disappears.

And while most software companies talk about helping teams work faster, very few actually move fast themselves. What I’ve seen at Ediphi is a team that lives by the same principles we build into our product.

Our support team answers tickets in less than 9 minutes on average. New ideas make it into production in days, not months. Decisions happen quickly and feedback loops are short.

That kind of responsiveness isn’t just impressive internally, it’s what our customers are beginning to identify with the brand itself.

Why agility matters in preconstruction

Because preconstruction has historically been a waiting game (waiting on drawings, waiting on data, waiting on tools to catch up), the firms that are winning today are those breaking that pattern.

They’re asking how they can make the right decisions sooner; how they can collaborate better.

It’s what drew me to Ediphi and what draws our customers to it, too.

Take Nick Burkel from Stevens Construction, who was plagued with a single question: “Can we shave five seconds, two seconds, one minute, one hour out of every process we're doing?"

Today, Nick and his team are shaving hours off of their preconstruction cycle per estimate with Ediphi.

It’s shown me that agility isn’t just a software feature, it’s a mindset. Every part of this platform is designed to remove friction; from how you compare cost models to how you estimate as a team

It’s built for people who can’t afford to wait on the next version or the next meeting.

Where Ediphi is going

Ediphi has a different message than our competition and a story that needs to be heard: Preconstruction needs to evolve — and cost should be your north star.

Our CEO Dustin DeVan painted this picture in a keynote at the Conference for Innovation Summit, a few weeks into my time here.

“From the estimate, we should be able to inform designers of what to go and design that is going to get us within a cost range that is tolerable. That’s the future of preconstruction.”

— Dustin DeVan, CEO and Co-founder at Ediphi

The sooner you can model cost, align design, and communicate clearly, the sooner you can cut the back-and-forths between architects, designers, and owners to tell the true cost narrative of a project.

We're building this future now. Come see it.

I’ll leave you with my parting thoughts: The next wave isn’t about bigger systems or top-down roadmaps that are big on vision but slow on delivery.

It's about real-time data, integrated workflows, and tools that empower precon teams to move at the speed of the decisions they need to make.
