Edi Phi's Mission
Edi Phi provides an environment where young adults can realize
who God has created them to be. We believe that in order to have
this kind of development, we have to make them well rounded in
several areas.
- On the spiritual side, we give young adults opportunities to share
what God has put upon their heart by having informal discussion days open to
the entire group and small group bible studies. We also will give members
the opportunity to speak in front of the entire group and bring the lesson
for the week. In addition, we give our people chances to discover a
servant's heart by frequently volunteering in th church and community. This
commitment to the things of God have produced youth leaders, Master's
Commission graduates, people who have founded campus ministries, drama
leaders, and conference speakers. God has truly blessed us when it comes to
ministry.
- Regarding life issues, we always try to bring in relevant messages
on topics as dating/relationships, managing finances, choosing a career,
dealing with stress and how to budget time. God has really used these
teachings and now we have people who own their own successful businesses, a
valedictorian, honor roll college students and people who have had success
in the stock market. All from within a group made up of teens and those in
their early 20s.
- In order to teach good social skills, we have monthly parties and
social gatherings where we grow relationships within the group. These
provide an excellent atmosphere for building lasting friendships among
people in the group as well as creating an atmosphere of unity among
members.
- We also feel that creativity is an important characteristic to
have. So we never preach messages from other people or reuse old sermons,
but we let God speak to us every week so we can always have a fresh,
creative revelation to share. Then we show them creative ways to present
their message using multimedia, drama, illustrations and idea provoking
activities.
Edi Phi feels that the teen/20s age group is a critical generation in our
nation. We wholeheartedly believe in Joel 2:28 where it talks about God using
young people greatly. We feel that age is unimportant when compared to callings.
If someone is called by God than no matter what his/her age is, that individual
has the responsibility to live out that calling, whether it be in ministry,
business, academics, entertainment, athletics or the arts. So we prepare group
members for all the areas they will encounter in life and show them how to
involve God in every one of them. God has blessed this and the group is becoming
a powerful force that is already reaching this generation.
